USO Southeast Region Hosts Super Bowl LIX Viewing Parties for Service Members in Training
Across the Southeast Region, USO centers and mobile units brought a taste of home to Soldiers and Marines in training with special Super Bowl LIX viewing parties, ensuring they could enjoy the big game with snacks, refreshments, and camaraderie. A majority of USO centers throughout the region participated, providing an unforgettable experience for these young service members.
From the McCrady Training Center in Columbia, South Carolina, to Camp Geiger aboard Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina, USO staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to make the night memorable for those far from home.
“Thank you all so much for your unwavering support of our Soldiers,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Bernie Ochoa. “They had an unforgettable experience, especially with the incredible NFL prizes provided by USAA, Mr. Joe, and the USO, with special thanks to Miss Katie and Trish [USO South Carolina, Coastal Georgia staff] for providing the food from Kroger. We truly appreciate everything you’ve done to make this possible.”
For Katie Kennedy, Senior Area Operations Manager for USO South Carolina and Coastal Georgia, ensuring Soldiers at McCrady Training Center could relax and enjoy the game is an annual tradition.
“This is one of the most anticipated morale-boosting events of the year,” Kennedy said. “These Soldiers are away from home, many for the first time, and the USO is here to remind them that they are appreciated. Seeing their excitement, hearing the cheers, and knowing they can just enjoy being together—it makes all the hard work worth it.”
At Camp Geiger, where young Marines in training gathered for their Super Bowl celebration, Bob Brown, a Senior Mobile Operations and Programs Specialist, echoed the sentiment.

“For these Marines, it’s more than just a game, it’s a moment to feel connected, to take a break from their rigorous training, and to know they have a support system beyond the base,” Brown said. “We look forward to this event every year, and the USO will continue to be here to support them.”
The USO also expressed its deep appreciation for its 55-year partnership with the NFL, which has helped bring moments of joy and connection to service members worldwide. Through this enduring collaboration, the USO reaffirms its mission to strengthen service members by keeping them connected to family, home, and country—one Super Bowl at a time.
